Highlights
Meet Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Amanda Silva, MD
Hi, I'm Dr. Amanda Silva. I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in reconstructive microsurgery at UVA Health. I am a plastic surgeon. I specialize in reconstructive microsurgery, so that means larger reconstructions after cancer or trauma. And I operate head to toe. So I do a lot of breast reconstruction. I do facial and head and neck reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction. Plastic surgery is very diverse and often, to fix a patient's problem or to restore their form or function, it requires thinking outside the box, and there are lots of options. It can sometimes be overwhelming. And so I like to spend a lot of time with them, talking them through all of the different options, the pros and cons. I often will show them pictures of what to expect and often like to connect them with patients who have been through similar journeys, so that they can also get from a patient's perspective what to expect. Patients should come to UVA Health because we have a great group of physicians and surgeons. I can speak for the plastic surgeons. We are a very energetic group. We love pushing the field forward, innovating for our patients. We all work really well together, and we all really care about taking great care of our patients.
