Overview
At UVA Health Outpatient Surgery Ivy Road, no hospital stay is needed as your surgery gets you home that same day. Our same-day joint replacement patients start physical therapy and walk soon after surgery.

Surgical procedures are performed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Patients must be driven home by a relative or friend. However, we do offer the option to stay overnight, if necessary. Patients are given proper support to manage pain and are encouraged to rest and recover at home.

Preparing Your Stay
Prior to surgery a nurse will call to review information, answer questions and provide arrival instructions. Upon arrival, you will register in the Lobby and then proceed down to the Ground floor to be checked in for surgery.
